Guys Want Gadgets, Not Stuffed Animals on Valentine’s Day

No matter how cute you think the idea of giving a “boo bear” to your boo would be, the odds are that your man would rather have something techie that a teddy for Valentine’s Day.
Being a professional photographer for over 15 years, I’m often asked “What camera do you recommend?”. Canon - PowerShot ELPH is one of the most user friendly point and shoot digital cameras.  It’s at a very reasonable cost ($150 range) and comes in a manly man gray color.

Plan ahead and order online from bhphotovideo.com. I’ve found that B+H Photo Video has the best prices.  Or, perhaps you’d rather shop in-store -I’ve found the prices at most major chains are quite competitive. I love the new free of charge option that Best Buy has of ordering online and picking up your order your local store. If the item is in stock, then it’s ready for pick up.  If it needs to be sent from the warehouse, they will email you when it’s ready for pick up.

In my opinion, this 12 Megapixels version gives him all that he’ll need (unless you’re planning to display your shots on a billboard).  Remember, it’s not the size of the equipment, it’s how he’ll use it.

Want to personalize it and make it more romantic gift? Get creative and hand it to him with a few sexy shots of yourself! This is bound to get him more excited than a box of chocolates.

Digital frames with images of the both of you would be a good (subtle?) way to let him know you still care.  You’ll have full editing control over what’s displayed and according you him, all  your hair days were good ones.

Be a large 19” powerful presence at HOME:  19" Digital Photo Frame

Don’t fully trust the guy?
Give yourself a holiday treat that will keep on giving… A Teddy Bear Hidden Camera. A camera hidden inside a teddy bear.  Place this stuffed animal among other trinkets around your living room or bedroom and no one will realize that inside this cuddly looking creature is a high resolution camera following their every move.

Hey, maybe you had the right idea all along!

Stefanie Graf, Billie Jean King, USTA, City Parks Tennis Event

Longines, the Swiss watch company, and tennis legend, philanthropist and Longines ambassador Stefanie Graf, joined forces with fellow legendary player Billie Jean King and four current professionals putting on a tennis clinic for more than 50 children provided by event presenters City Parks Foundation and the USTA Eastern Division.  Graf (married to Andre Agassi), spent three hours on court tutoring and helping the children, offering tips and advice about their tennis games.

Shooting this event got me to experience the The Central Park Tennis Center. And to think, after living in Manhattan for over 15 years, I thought I've done all that NYC has to offer. Who knew?! IMTA 2010-Theatrical Headshots Judge, David J. Martin

David J. Martin -Theatrical Headshots Judge for IMTA Competition 2010
I was judgemental today! The International Modeling and Talent Association held an event at the Hilton Hotel at 54th Street today. I was one of the judges for the Theatrical Headshots portion of the competition.  Unfortunately, judging was done by numerical score cards so i didn't get to verbalize my opinions but I still had fun and it was a great experience.. of power ;-)

Manhattanhenge, Tonight in NYC

This snap was taken last night at 33rd Street -which was just a preview to tonight's official sunset. "Manhattanhenge" is one of only a few occasions a year when the Sun sets in exact alignment with the Manhattan grid, fully illuminating every single cross-street for the last fifteen minutes of daylight. For best effect, position yourself as far east in Manhattan as possible. But ensure that when you look west across the avenues you can still see New Jersey. Clear cross streets include 14th, 23rd, 34th. 42nd, 57th.

Children's Photography/Modeling Cards

I have a park right around the corner from my studio for some fun shots.  When it comes to photographing children, kids should be kids -not kids trying to be grown ups... Toddlers and Tiaras is so wrong! lol.
